Joining a shared browser

Join a browser hosted on another computer. Use the host's invitation to request access.

What the host is sharing

BrowserSeat gives guests remote access to a browser on the host's computer. The browser uses the host's hardware, internet connection and storage.

Guests access the shared browser. The host can use their own desktop at the same time.

Check the invitation

Use invitations you expect from a host you know. Confirm unexpected links with the host through a familiar channel.

Agree on the task before connecting. Ask the host if you need another website, file or device.

Work within the shared browser

Guests start in Watch mode. Guests with control permission can select Take control to send mouse and keyboard input.

Existing website sessions may be visible. Use those accounts only for the agreed task, even when other actions are available.

  • Stay within the websites and task you agreed with the host.
  • Ask before uploading, downloading or copying information.
  • Tell the host if something unexpected appears or access changes.

If the connection stops

Host sleep, shutdown or a network interruption can interrupt access to the shared browser.

Check with the host before repeating a submission or other consequential action. The website may have received the action even if its result did not reach your screen.

Finish and report the result

Tell the host what you completed, which files you created and what still needs review. End the session when the work is finished.

Access duration and reconnection behavior will depend on the release and the host's settings.

Invite to Shared browser

This illustrates a browser invitation. It does not create a live guest session.
